Gracin Kerry is a remarkable senior at Villanova University, excelling as the women's water polo team's goalie. With numerous accolades both in academics and athletics, she represents the spirit of determination and teamwork.
Spotlight on Recipient: Maggie Coyne '26
While serving as Captain for the Women's Rowing Team, Maggie is pursuing organizational communication and sociology. Through internship experience at SoulCycle, NBC Sports and the Women's Sports Foundation, and Palo Alto Networks, Maggie has gained valuable hands on organizational communication experience. Upon graduation, Maggie will join Palo Alto Networks as a Cybersecurity Consultant.
Spotlight on Recipient: Sara Withers '26
Currently a senior, Sara looks forward to the team repeating its great 24-25 run in the MAAC Conference. Sara hopes to pursue a research grant to study dengue fever in Piura, Peru. In the spring, Sara will intern as a Spanish Interpreter as a part of the law school's free counsel offering. Sara hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
Spotlight on Recipient: Jess Swoboda '15; Field Hockey
Jess Swoboda, a recent Ph.D. recipient in English Literature from the University of Virginia, transitioned into undergraduate advising and teaching classes in UVA’s General Education Curriculum. She hosts podcasts for The Point, a literary magazine, and contributes to other publications. Jess also merges her literature and field hockey interests as a website contributor to the Charlottesville, VA, area field hockey club, FOCUS.
Spotlight on Recipient: Malia Kaitlyn Gacutan '21; Water Polo
Malia, a water polo player while an undergraduate, pursued a Master of Arts in Biomechanics Science from Bluefield University and has dedicated her career to advancing patient-centered care through clinical work, research, and community service. Currently an OMS-III at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM-Virginia), she serves as Honor Code Council Chair and Quality Assessment Group Leader. Her clinical experience spans long-term care and free community clinics, complementing her research in echocardiography and cardiac imaging. Malia volunteers in both medical and community settings, reflecting her commitment to service and compassionate healthcare. She aims to improve patient outcomes and serve diverse communities.
Spotlight on Recipient: Julie Kasunic '20; Rowing
Julie, a former collegiate rower and mechanical engineering graduate, champions a life in motion—for others and herself. She enthusiastically develops manufacturing suppliers for orthopedic implants that enable patients to walk again, compete in sports, and reclaim active lives. Beyond her work, she’s on a personal mission to run a marathon in every state, with 15 down and counting, and having inspired others to run their first marathons.

Currently serving as an assistant coach for the varsity women’s water polo team, Kaysie is concurrently pursuing her Master of Education with a specialization in Higher Education Leadership at Villanova University.

Spotlight on Recipient: Samantha Schafer '17; Tennis
With a broad background that started with a Chem Engineering degree, Samatha worked in marketing analytics prior to transitioning to Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric Mental Health. Samantha serves on the board of PEAK, a not for profit whose mission is mentorship and opportunities for underserved youth. Samantha shares her love for tennis through coaching.
